Monique Mendes, Ph.D.
Welcome to my academic website. I am a neuroscientist with expertise in microglial biology, brain development, and neuroinflammation. Currently, I am a Postdoctoral Fellow at Stanford University, where I investigate the role of microglia in neural circuit formation and function.
My research focuses on understanding how immune cells in the brain contribute to normal development and how their dysfunction may lead to neurological disorders. Through cutting-edge techniques in molecular biology, imaging, and behavioral analysis, I aim to uncover fundamental mechanisms that could inform therapeutic approaches for neurodevelopmental and neurodegenerative diseases.
